Police Preferred Key Safes

Police Preferred status is a certification awarded by ‘Secured by Design’, the official home security scheme created and run by the UK police. The initiative was set up to help ‘design out’ crime and improve the security of buildings through the use of high-quality, innovative products that meet the set out security specifications. Police Preferred key safes are recognised to increase home security and reduce crime.

The Key Safe Company was the first key safe supplier to become a ‘Secured by Design’ member, setting the standards in the market. Our Supra C500 Pro and Supra P500 Pro were the first mechanical key safes in the UK to meet the Police Preferred specification. You may have come across the terms ‘police preferred’ and ‘police approved key safe’ and be wondering how they’re different. The terms are often used interchangeably and, in fact, refer to the same ‘seal of approval’ by ‘Secured by Design’, the official UK police initiative that works to improve home security.

The correct term used by ‘Secured by Design’, however, is ‘police preferred’ specification.

Police Preferred specification is awarded to products by ‘Secured by Design’, the official UK police security initiative working to increase house security. All products in our police preferred key safe range have been attack tested by an independent security authority – LPCB (Loss Prevention Certification Board). Supra C500 Pro and Supra P500 Pro key safes were the first in their class to achieve the LPS 1175 Issue 8 A5 security rating from LPCB which has only been surpassed by ark Tamo™.
