Supra UK trading as The Key Safe Company is set to refocus its range of access and security solutions for the care market following a thorough review of the enhanced telecare sector.

The company is realigning its strategy to extend its market leading range of key safes and will no longer supply the Care at Home Family Safe solution. Research carried out by the organisation has found that this concept was an early adopter for the UK in the analogue/digital switchover and further work is required within the care industry before the 2025 deadline.

David Ogden, Managing Director of The Key Safe Company, commented: “It is after careful consideration we have decided to no longer supply the Care at Home Family Safe.  This was not a decision made lightly but based on research, in our view the uptake of services based on the digital convergence of telecare is yet to reach maturity.

“This decision will allow us to reinforce key areas where our business excels, which is providing access solutions, such as our leading Supra C500 KeySafeTM in the care market and our TRACcess™ suite of Bluetooth access solutions for the commercial and security sectors.

A report, published by Supporting Scotland’s Workforce, suggested there is current lack of knowledge around technology enabled care, which has hindered its use in the workplace. It also reflected a feeling that there were limited opportunities to use technology and little perceived incentive to do so within some roles.

David added: “We pride ourselves on listening to our customers and professionals within the care industry to gauge their needs and requirements, working with these organisations to fulfil this. Without a doubt, technology does have a strong future in the care industry but there is still work to be done to support the health and care sector prepare for the digital switchover, which is still some years away.”

“We will continue to lead with innovations that are beneficial to the industry and we have some exciting technologic advancements in the pipeline. However, for the time being, our priority is regrouping with our customers to ensure our solutions meet the needs of the industry right now.”

Customers who are currently using the Care at Home Family Safe solution are being supported by The Key Safe Company. The decision allows the company to continue with its commitment to providing its industry leading key safes and further innovations within this market.
